Dear South Carolina Middle School Band Directors,

I have just completed the third and final series of Junior Audition Solo transposition sets for South Carolina county, region, and all-state band auditions. Each audition solo, with the exception of the alternate “a” and “b” endings, has been transposed for every instrument in the concert band ensemble.
My goal is to provide band directors with a practical resource that can be incorporated into their rhythm and sight-reading curriculum. By focusing on a single solo at a time and having all students perform the same musical material in their respective keys, directors can reinforce rhythmic accuracy, ensemble awareness, and sight-reading proficiency in a unified and engaging manner.
Students may also benefit from these materials independently. They can practice with friends who play different instruments, compare musical interpretations, and use the complete collection of audition solos to strengthen their individual sight-reading skills. During my years as a band director, I found these transposition sets to be exceptionally effective instructional tools, and I am pleased to share them with any director who may find them valuable.
You will also notice that the transposition sets for the first two audition solo series are already available for your future use. This final release will complete the three-year rotation of Junior Audition Solo materials.
